BASB SKI & BOARD DAY!! (Courtesy invite to our friends in SCTC!)

  • 27 Jan 2018
  • Bay Area Ski Bus trip to Sierra at Tahoe

Tired of rained out courts?  Got the winter blues?  Ready for something completely different?

Bay Area Ski Bus has invited the SCTC family to join them for a one-day bus trip to Tahoe for a BASB SKI & BOARD DAY!  This BASB invitation is being extended to SCTC members as a courtesy.  This is not an official offering of SCTC, and SCTC assumes no liability for your participation in this BASB event.

This is an ultra-simple and super-economical way to get a fabulous single day of skiing or boarding into your weekend, with no driving and almost all other hassles eliminated!  Whether you are a demon on the downhill or you're looking for a fun and gentle first-timer package with rental equipment and lesson included ... whether you are a single looking to meet new friends, or a couple, or a family with children joining you - check this out!  And even if you are just coming along for a fun day of relaxing while other family members hit the slopes, Sierra at Tahoe is a great place to do it - and they have a live Jazz/Blues Band scheduled to entertain you at the Base Lodge from 1-5 PM that day!

What makes this super-easy is that the whole trip will be executed on Bay Area Ski Bus (BayAreaSkiBus.com - BASB is one of our area's best values still being discovered by many)!  This ski/board one-day trip will be on Saturday, January 27th, and it will go to Sierra at Tahoe, one of Tahoe's best value resorts with a great laid back atmosphere focused on fun!  The prices for lift tickets, rentals, lessons or all of them at Sierra are about the best in the area!  When you book them through Bay Area Ski Bus, their discounts make them significantly better!  And BASB is giving all of us at SCTC an extra $10 discount per person to welcome us to this new adventure!

For all of our snow pilgrims that sign up (see how below), the day will work like this:

-  Set your alarm early, and board the luxury bus at your assigned pick up point (usually around 4 AM).  There is plenty of room for your skis, boards, boots underneath the bus, if you have your own equipment.

-  Put your head back in your reclining seat and snooze for about 3 hours.  We typically make two other pick ups around the area, on our way.  There is a bathroom on the bus.

-  We'll wake you up about 45 minutes away from the resort for some continental breakfast and juice in your seat, while some radical ski/boarding movies get your juices flowing!

-  Arrive at the resort where a BASB rep will meet us with all of our lift, rental and lesson tickets, ready to get us onto the mountain for an early start.  Even if we arrive on different buses, our folks will have the opportunity to meet at the buses and to group up by abilities if they want some ski buddies.

-  Enjoy your day on the mountain!  I'll also provide some tips on good places and times to meet up for a drink or lunch, for those that want to do so.

-  At the end of the day, meet back at the buses for an great Apres Ski party, with music, hot dogs off the grill, s'mores, drinks and snacks, to enjoy the afterglow of an epic day in the snow together!

-  Relax on the bus all the way home, while we screen some hit movies.  Look out the window to enjoy the scenery, and remind yourself that you are not driving!

-  Arrive back at your pick up point around 9:30 PM, depending upon traffic and weather.

Are you ready to join the fun?  Here's how:

1.  Go to www.BayAreaSkiBus.com.  Look around their website, and get all your questions answered on how BASB runs their trips.  You will even find a "chat" icon that you can click on to get any remaining questions addressed.

2.  At the top of the page, click on the "LOG IN" box.  If you are a returning customer, then log in using your existing account information.  If you are a first timer on BASB, then follow the steps to create your own BASB account.

2.  When you have successfully logged into your account, click on the "Book a Trip" box.

3.  Go down the list of trips shown, and select the January 27, 2018, Sat, Sierra at Tahoe - Adult trip.  If you will be bringing family members under 18 on the trip, you can pick the January 27, 2018, Sat, Sierra at Tahoe - Family trip.

4.  Look down the list of options, to select what package you will need.  The typical choice will be Bus and Lift Ticket, but you can also pick a package that adds Rental Skis or Board, or Beginner or Intermediate Lessons, or both.

5.  Next, in the Promo Code box, fill in "SCTCSKI", to get your additional $10 discount.

6.  Next, select the pick up location that you will use.  The closest pickup to San Carlos is the Foster City Park'n'Ride.  Select that location, unless you have a reason to board buses for this trip from another location.

7.  Next, you can select your account profile to fill in all of your personal information automatically, or you can fill it in manually.

8.  Carefully review the Acknowledgement, Waiver and Release from Liability section, and click the check box at the bottom to show that you have read and understood all of it.

9.  Then click on "Add to Cart".

10.  You should see your reservation in the cart.  You can then click on the "Sign up for another trip" box, in order to register additional people that you wish to register and pay for, by repeating preceding steps.

11.  When you have all of your reservations properly setup, review the additional "I UNDERSTAND" text boxes and ensure that your initials are in the blanks after each one, to acknowledge your understanding and agreement.

12.  Finally, click the "Check Out" box, and complete the payment details.

13.  When your registration and payment is complete, send an email to Jeff Peterson (a fellow SCTC member and a longtime BASB volunteer host), and let me know who you have joining the fun!  I will be hosting for BASB on this trip, and will be on the lookout for you.

14.  If you want to learn more about Sierra at Tahoe, take a look here.  If you have additional questions that have not been answered on the BASB website or through their "Chat" button, just email Greg Righellis at BASB - he is ready to help too!

That's it!  It's that easy!  Get ready for some big fun, hopefully in the sun, and definitely in the snow!
