SCTC Away Trip: September 28 - October 1, 2017

Our annual SCTC Away Trip is the pinnacle event of the SCTC tennis year -  4 days & 3 nights of tennis and social events at the stunning oceanside Pajaro Dunes Resort, including a fun 2-day tourney.

SCTC favorite, chef John Elder, will be catering delicious lunches and dinners.  Enjoy drinks, snacks, games, prizes, white elephant, a bonfire and lots of good times and memories. When you're finished playing a full day of tennis, take a stroll on the gorgeous California coastline or sit back and enjoy the breathtaking views from your living room or deck before joining us for dinner.

Need a roommate?  We have lots of single folks as well as couples that join us every year. Participants are strongly encouraged to organize their own roommates for best pricing and sign up. However, if you are in need of a roommate we will work hard to pair you up. Please contact the Away Trip director.

Members & Guests Welcome!  The SCTC Away Trip is being offered to SCTC members.  It is one of the best ways that we introduce SCTC's unique portfolio of social and competitive offerings to friends new and old.  Non-Members:  The Big Secret is that guests pay only $35 more than members, which is the mid-year SCTC membership fee, allowing you to sign up for this event and become a member! Membership allows you to participate in our tournaments, Team Tennis USTA teams, and many other fun activities.  Go to Member Signup & Renewal to become a member now (for the remainder of 2017), and come back here to sign up for the Away Trip before the rooms are gone!

Our tennis weekend away is quite affordable, especially in comparison to weekend trips in Northern California, The cost listed is the price for the entire weekend. This includes room, catered meals, tennis court fees, balls, beverages, snacks, prizes and all of the other items needed to make this weekend successful.  Prices range from $325 to $450 per person. See the sign up page for room and pricing options. 

SCTC is deservedly famous for our wonderfully diverse agenda of social and competitive tennis events, and for each of us going the extra mile to ensure that every player at every level is welcome and comfortable.  The annual SCTC Away Trip is where we shine the brightest, and create the biggest and best memories!

Reserve your room right away, because this event will fill up fast!   If your desired room type is no longer available, then (1) we will help you pick out the nearest room match still available, and (2) let us know your desired choice and we will keep note in case we add more accommodations (and courts) to accept a higher registration level.

-  We will again stay in beautiful homes at the south end of Pajaro Dunes, with gorgeous views of the beach.

-  Courts are available for drop-in play on your own when you arrive Thursday.  Room check-in starts at 4 PM Thursday.  Join casual meet & greet happy hour (BYOB & appetizer/snacks), as people drift in until 10 PM.

-  Fri/Sat Mixed &  Same Gender Doubles Tennis Tourney, designed for social and competitive play, including some prizes!   Water, sodas, protein snacks and tennis balls provided. 

 Lunch and dinner (main courses with appetizers/dessert) will be  provided on Friday and Saturday.  John Elder, a popular caterer to many SCTC events always aims to please in his lunch and dinner menus.

This year, its bring your own breakfast and alcohol (BYOBB).  Participants are now asked to bring their own breakfast to prepare and enjoy in the fully equipped kitchens of their beach front homes. There will be a table with complimentary coffee and muffins/croissants on Friday and Saturday mornings at court side.   A sign-up sheet will go out for participants to bring 1 bottle of wine and 1 six pack of beer to collectively share throughout the weekend. There will be no sign-up this year for breakfast, appetizer or dessert items.

 -  Relaxed Friday and Saturday night gathering in the main house for yummy appetizers and dinners followed by, games, music and our traditional white elephant.

Bonfire after-party on the beach one night, weather/wind permitting, with memorable singing, stories, music, jokes, and your variety act?!

-  Wonderful camaraderie and memory-making with friends new and old!

Room check-out is 12 Noon Sunday.  Courts available for drop-in play on your own on Sunday until you depart.  Join us for a casual side trip on your own to famous Phil's Fish Market for lunch before heading home!


The Away Trip includes a very complete offering of food, drinks, courts and fun covered in the cost, but we still treasure the personal involvement and contributions that make this event fabulous, fun and memorable for each other! 

Every participant agrees to a few simple responsibilities when they sign up:

1.  Bring assigned alcoholic beverages to share for the event.  If you would rather share something else, please contact the event director for alternatives. 

2.  Perform assigned duties responsibly and on time (small tasks such as set up, cleanup, getting coffee/ice, managing drinks and coolers, pickup or manage catering for a meal, moving tables and chairs, decorating and lighting tables, managing bonfire, providing boombox and music for courts or evening, managing games, providing truck/van transport, etc.)

3.  Full payment is required to secure your reservation. Online payment only (paypal or credit card) is accepted.

 ROOM AND HOUSING ARE ALLOCATED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS.  SO SIGN UP EARLY!  Also note that this event is for Adults Only (18+).  Every participant attending must sign a FULL RELEASE OF LIABILITY for SCTC and the Away Trip organizers.

4.  Your biggest responsibility:  Have a blast, and be an ambassador of fun for everyone else!  


If your desired room type is no longer available at the time that you have paid for it to request confirmation of a reservation, you will be contacted by the Away Trip organizers and offered an alternative room type that is available.  This could be a lesser or shared room (if the trip is nearly filled) or could be a better room, according to availability.  If you accept the alternative room type that is available and offered, then any additional cost must be received from you right away to secure the changed reservation.  If a partial refund is due to you, you will be reimbursed for the overpayment amount at or before the event.  If you do not accept the alternative room type available at the time that it is offered, your entire payment will be refunded. 

If you need to cancel your reservation for any reason, cancellations received and acknowledged by the Away Trip Director in writing are eligible for refunds as follows:

-  By 8/18/2017 full refund. 

-  By 8/25/2017 refund of 50% of full reservation amount.

-  After 08/25/2017 no refunds are available.

Transfer of the registration to other eligible Members will be allowed until September 21, 2017.  Both parties must notify the trip director of the change.  

FULL RELEASE: Submission of your registration for this event releases San Carlos Tennis Club, its officers, directors, members and the like from claims relating to any injury or damage to person or property, arising out of or incidental to the registrant's presence and or participation at this San Carlos Tennis Club sponsored event
