Memorial Service for Colleen Mitchell

Sadly, Colleen Mitchell, long-time SCTC coordinator of the women's drop-in, has recently passed away.   Many of us who have been club members for some time knew Colleen and her enthusiastic, friendly demeanor on and off the court.  Colleen was among the first club members to earn the exclusive club award, the Brass Tennis Ball, to recognize her contributions to our tennis community. She enjoyed playing tennis well into her eighties, as well as being proficient at poker.

A memorial service to celebrate Collen's eventful life and achievements will be held by her family on Saturday, May 11 at 11am at the Neptune Society in Belmont. All are welcome to attend and share memories of Colleen.  Please let her niece, Alayne Suky, know if you plan to attend to allow for appropriate planning. Alayne can be reached by text at 408-691-8551.

Award-Winning SCTC Captains

SCTC's very own Pam Fuerst, long-time member and current board member, has been recognized as the Adult League Captain of the Year for the Upper Peninsula section of Norcal.  Ashi Labouisse earned recognition for captaining the most number of teams in 2023. Congrats to both of you and many thanks for your work!

Thinking of Filing a USTA Grievance?

What is required and how does USTA handle grievances?  Here's some resources from a recent presentation by Molly Neal, Adult League Coordinator, that explain the details. Captains, you might want to bookmark these for any future needs.

Here's the PDF of the slide deck and the recording of the webinar

Note: The $50 check required to file a grievance is held in the office until the decision comes out -- if upheld the check is shredded, if denied or dismissed the check is deposited.

Here's the Questions/Responses summary from submitted questions.

Update: Water Fountain Working Again

Finally! The water fountain between the upper and lower courts at Arguello is now working again.

Many thanks to Lisa McKenna for her persistence with the school district to get it fixed.

Ball Recycling program is a Winner!

We've just sent another shipment of 90 lbs of used tennis balls for recycling.

To help, simply bring used balls to the Arguello courts and deposit them in the green plastic bin by the side of Court 1.  At club events, the mailing bins will be made available courtside (ask your event coordinator if you don't see them).  The bins are stored in the Shed until sent for recycling. If you would like to help with this program, please contact Lisa McKenna president@sancarlostennis.com

Did You Cancel Your Event Registration?
SCTC does not give refunds, but your account will be credited for the full amount of registration. The system doesn't automatically apply a credit, if you have one.
